SWEPS Trails
Connecting communities to nature through sustainable trails along the Shubenacadie Waterway.
Active Transportation in Harmony with Nature
SWEPS Trails was established several years ago to meet the growing demand for Active
Transportation trails. We envisioned outdoor experiences on all-access nature trails not only as a way to contribute to community wellbeing and participant health but an opportunity to increase the understanding of natural ecosystems. Since we are located in the valley of the Shubenacadie Waterway and blessed with innumerable wetlands, it was decided to locate our trails along the chain of lakes and as near as practical to the wetlands, while gaining an understanding of the need to reduce the vulnerability of natural systems to climate change.
