Fall River, NS – The Blue Hill Coach Trail, developed and maintained by the SWEPS Trails Committee, was recently showcased as a model project during a provincial announcement about the Connect2 sustainable transportation program.
On April 4, the trail served as the backdrop as the Province of Nova Scotia announced the opening of the 2017 application period for Connect2, a program that funds short-distance walking and cycling infrastructure connecting community hubs. SWEPS Trails Chair Bob Guscott joined Minister of Energy Michel Samson and MLA Bill Horne at the event to highlight the success of the Blue Hill Coach Trail as a community-led initiative that delivers real, local impact.
The Blue Hill Coach Trail links Fall River Village to Blue Hill Road via a scenic and historically important corridor. Built with support from the Connect2 program, the trail is part of a broader vision for the Riverlake Greenway—a regional trail network proposed by SWEPS that will eventually link Dartmouth to Carrolls Corner, and connect with the Trans Canada Trail.
SWEPS sees trails not just as recreational amenities, but as essential community infrastructure that support environmental stewardship, historical preservation, and sustainable transportation.
