SWEPS Adopt-A-Stream

SWEPS participates in Nova Scotia’s Adopt-A-Stream program to restore and enhance freshwater ecosystems throughout the Shubenacadie Watershed. Through this program, we’ve completed dozens of stream restoration projects that support fish passage, reduce erosion, and improve habitat health.

What is Adopt-A-Stream?

Adopt-A-Stream is a Nova Scotia-based community watershed restoration program that provides funding and technical support to groups working to improve the health of local streams, rivers, and wetlands. The program focuses on enhancing fish habitat, restoring natural water flow, and engaging communities in environmental stewardship.
Since 2012, SWEPS has been an active participant in Adopt-A-Stream, leading hands-on restoration projects throughout the Shubenacadie Watershed. Each project is designed to remove barriers to fish passage, stabilize eroding banks, and restore the natural structure of streams to support biodiversity and improve water quality.

What’s in Each Report?

Each Report Highlights:
