Summer 2014 Stream Restoration

Throughout July and August of 2014 the SWEPS stream restoration was  focused on the restoration of Black Brook that runs adjacent to Lockview High School and connects A Lake to Fletcher’s Lake in Fall River. The purpose of this project was rehabilitate areas of the stream where it has been widened and straightened due to logging, land development and weather events. The restoration included debris jam removal, garbage clean up and the installation of structures to reinstitute the natural meandering pattern of the streams. This creates habitat of a greater diversity that is more suitable for native fish such as Salmon, Gaspereau and Brook trout.

Other projects r included water quality testing in Holland Brook and site assessments for future restoration projects.
